Obituary for
Raymond 'Manny' C.M. Smith
Raymond Smith was born on May 13, 1945, in Melfort, Saskatchewan to parents Cliff and Edith Smith. He was the second oldest child of ten. Raymond grew up in Carragana, Saskatchewan where he attended school. Those years of his life were not his fondest, he would rather be out woodworking and building something out of nothing.
In Raymond’s earlier years he worked at various garages doing mechanic work, until he started his own business in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, where he owned and operated his business for over forty years.
He had a passion for wood working, Raymond built a grandfather clock and glider chair made from oak. He loved to spend time with his family and taking his nieces and nephews for rides in his semi-truck. He had a large circle of friends which he always enjoyed visiting with at coffee row. If you were a friend of Raymond’s, you would have a friend for life!
Raymond also enjoyed listening to music and fishing when he had the opportunity. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need.
In his final years of his life, he enjoyed travelling in his motor home with his lady friend Freda Schneider and spending a lot of time at his nephew, Todd’s on the acreage.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Edith Smith, his wife Sicilia, brother Harold Smith, Brother’s in law Jim Hall and Terry Hurley.
He is survived by his daughter Amanda Smith, his siblings, Marian Hurley, Gloria (Hank) Harbison, Robert (Sophia) Smith, Myrtle Hall, Judy (Peter) Hall, Kathy (John) Wilson, Stanley Smith, Melvin Smith and Friend Freda Schneider and her daughter Verla Will, son-in-law Stan Will and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Tisdale Home care and the Tisdale Hospital Staff for all their excellent care through the last days of Raymond's life and also to Stan and Verla for all the help they did for Raymond.
