Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Evelyn Rasmussen can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Evelyn Rose Rasmussen (Parkman)

Evelyn Rose was born at NE 13-25-22 (Gilbert Plains) Manitoba, the first daughter of William Henry and Fairy Rose (Young) Parkman. She moved with her parents and older brother Jack to Hudson Bay when she was about three years old, where they lived in a rental home north of Hudson Bay until their log house was built south of Hudson Bay in the Etomami district. Evelyn attended Aspen School and was very proficient, particularly in math, to skip grades, and win provincial awards, e.g. penmanship. She later worked for Brook’s grocery store.
Evelyn married Alf Rasmussen, August 22, 1946, living first in a small house at the Howard/Helen (Rasmussen) Bracken farm yard; then renting and farming Wiley’s SE of the Etomami River bridge; followed by moving to new ‘pioneering’ farm land in the Robert Creek area.
Daughters Fairy, Reidun and Carol were born during that time. Evelyn and family moved to Winnipeg, MB in April of 1958 where they were blessed with the addition of nephew Bruce to the family. Evelyn and Alf moved to Lethbridge in 1972 and home to Hudson Bay in 1990.
She was involved in the Eagles Club, Sons of Norway, HB Seniors Association, curling, bowling, camping and fishing, dancing, cards and board games, and was very talented re sewing/needlework/crochet.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters Fairy Marshall (Mark Magotiaux), Reidun (Rob) Granberg, Carol (Jim) Welby, and Bruce (Eileen) Parkman; grandchildren [gr.grandchildren] Colleen (Stephen) [Kaitlyn and Meghan]; Brandon [Mason]; Eric (Andi) [Anya, Hudson, Keira, Hugo, Sebastian and Rasmus]; Ian (Amy) [Rowan and Rosie]; Jamie (Michelle) [Makena and Mahala]; Kimberly (Travis) [Reilly]; Dale (Fran) [Margo and Elise]; Stacy (Rhett) [Andi, Casey and Sylvie]; Brandi (Justin) [Payton and Avery]; Brittney (Stephan) [Adeline, Ben, Cole and Riley]; Peter (Jen) [Estelle and Elis]. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Agnes Rasmussen, many nieces, nephews and family members of Etomami Cable cousins.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Alf, March 3, 2017, her beloved granddaughters Carrie Louise and Jill Nicole, her parents Bill and Fairy, siblings and their spouses: Jack (Elva), Isobel (Elmer Binkley), Dick, Don (Jean), Peggy (Mervin Binkley) and Jerry (Linda), as well as her Rasmussen brothers and sisters-in law and their spouses.
