Obituary for Peter Anthony Hrbachek

Peter Anthony Hrbachek was born on November 17, 1931 in Lazy pod Makytu, Slovakia. Peter was the fifth child of Andrew and Karolina Hrbachek, and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1938 when he was six years old. The family settled in Mistatim, Saskatchewan where Peter grew up hunting, fishing, logging and farming.
Peter married Margaret Stagman on November 29, 1958. Peter and Margaret built a farm and raised six children together in the span of their 65 year marriage. They enjoyed travelling, sporting events, and time spent with family and friends. Peter excelled at playing pool, checkers and shuffle board. He was a member of many community clubs over the years, including the Wheat Pool, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and 4-H. Peter loved storytelling, good conversation, and hearing a great joke.
Peter is survived by his wife Margaret; sisters Stefania Lahoski and Mary Weisensel. He will be remembered by his sons Anthony Hrbachek, Joe (Kathryn Vennard) Hrbachek; daughters Carol (Keith) Bohachewski, Maureen (Fabien Jean) Hrbachek, Teresa (Brian Jelinski) Hrbachek; son-in-law Stan Huculak; and grandchildren Earl (Brittany) Bohachewski, Kelsey Bohachewski, Marissa Huculak, Conrad Huculak and Maxime Hrbachek-Jean. He is also survived by great grandchildren Elliott, Thomas and Elena Bohachewski.
Peter is predeceased by his daughter Elaine Huculak, brothers: Paul, Steve, Emil, and Frank Hrbachek; and sister Sidonia Hrbachek.
Peter passed away on the 22nd of July, 2023. He will be sadly missed by all who love him. He has left us with many fond memories, funny stories, and excellent one-liners to continue to honour him.
