Obituary for
Ida Iola Bennett
Ida “Iola” Bennett (Grandma B) passed away peacefully with her family at her side on September 9, 2022. She will be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Wilfred; son, Donald; daughters, Eileen and Gloria; son-in-law, Olaf.
Iola was born in Craik, SK. on November 30th 1924 to Edwin & Ida Belrose. She and her twin Ivan were born into a large family with 13 siblings. She lived in Craik until June 1935 when they made the long journey to Hudson Bay Jct.
On Dec. 23, 1941 she was united in marriage to Wilfred Bennett and soon after their children were born. Donald (died in infancy) Eileen (Robert)Klein, Gloria (Olaf) Skogan.
Iola was a hardworking farmwife and spent many hours in the garden, greenhouse, and helping with the honeybees. She lived in the Limberlost area with Wilf before moving into town in the early 80’s. She will forever be remembered as Grandma B by her grandchildren. Her hands did not stay idle after moving to town, she then concentrated on quilting. She has made many quilts and planned ahead making quilts for the great grandchildren’s future babies. You could find Iola many evenings watching curling and the Blue Jays play ball. She was an avid bowler up until she was in her 80’s, she loved playing cards, reading and visiting friends. Having her family & friends visit her meant the world to her and she was known for her fierce hugs. She was an active member of the Anglican church, a Royal Canadian Legion member and supported Tele Miracle.
She is survived by her loving grandchildren; Lynn (Gordon)Richardson; Patti (Mark)Stewart; Cindy (Adam)Svenkeson; Robert Klein Jr.; 9 great-grandchildren; Kaden (Skylar)Antoniuk, Mason Antoniuk, Jenna Antoniuk, Hannah Richardson; Emily (Cody)Kreil, Michelle Stewart; Christina, Morgan and Jeslyn Svenkeson; 6 great-great-grandchildren; Bauer & Baker Antoniuk; Ashtyn, Alayna & Jack Kreil; Rhett Hurley; son-in-law, Robert Klein; two sisters, Ruby and Daisy and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to Diane, Elaine, Shelley, Louise and the Home Care staff who enabled grandma to stay in her own home that she loved for so long.
