Obituary for Richard Dean "Dean" Rekiel

Richard Dean "Dean" Rekiel
Dean was born on July 14, 1962, to Valerie and Adolph Rekiel in Porcupine Plain, Sask. He had two older siblings Kevin and Karen, and one younger sister Leanne.
He grew up and attended school in Porcupine Plain. He worked for CN Rail after high school before coming back to town to work at the Co-op Lumberyard, then ran the Massy Ferguson dealership.
Dean moved to Hanna with his common-law partner Betty in 1993 to work in the oilfield, and their son David was born there that year. They moved to Meadow Lake a few years later, and Dean worked several years in the tire shop before relocating in 2014 to Prud’homme, where he worked as Village Foreman.
Dean enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was passionate about cars. He loved watching Nascar and hanging out in his garage, or his nephew JJ’s garage down the street. They could often be found tinkering away on cars or anything else with an engine. He also enjoyed being outdoors, either golfing, fishing, hunting or quadding.
He hated having his picture taken but the women in the family frequently wore him down and occasionally, even got a smile out of him. He liked his whiskey, Pepsi and good-old Ukrainian dinners. His sarcastic sense of humor will be missed by many.
Dean is survived by his son David Rekiel; father Adolph Rekiel; brother Kevin (Adele) Rekiel and their son Kale; sister Karen (Mike) Kaziuk and their children JJ (Erin) Kaziuk and Nicole (Andrew) Marques; sister Leanne Rekiel (Amin); and great-nieces and nephews Alex, Jase, Charlee and Noah.
Dean was pre-deceased by his mom Valerie Rekiel in 2008, step-mother Tillie Rekiel in 2016, and step-father Rynie Fecho in 2016.
