Obituary for John Kostiuk

John Kostiuk
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, John Kostiuk, on Saturday, March 26th, 2022.
John was born on October 29, 1935 in Red Deer Hill, Saskatchewan, where he also received his education. He grew up on the family farm, and would eventually find employment with CN Rail in Hudson Bay. There, he would meet the love of his life, Betty Saranchuk, and began a wonderful marriage of 60 years. John eventually left CN Rail to begin a long- lived career as a supervisor with MacMillan Bloedel.
John had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He became active in the local Forestry Week logging competitions, and would earn the title of King Logger for 9 years. After his time at the mill, John took up market gardening and would travel weekly to sell the biggest and best produce in the Saskatoon Farmers Market for many years. Soon after, he specialized in garlic. John became quite famous for having the best quality garlic, as far away as Ontario.
John is predeceased by his loving wife Betty, his son in- law, Joe Kaminski, his granddaughter, Amy Milne, his brothers Fred, Orest, and Joe Kostiuk, Sister Jenny Bilay, and parents, Dmytro and Mary Kostiuk.
John is survived by his children, Mary (Keith) Milne, Marty (Donna) Kostiuk, Corina Kaminski, Johnny (Cristal) Kostiuk, Derek Kostiuk, and Sherry (David) Nobbs. Sister Nellie Helewka, Grandchildren Jennifer, Katie, Graham, Kayla, Lindsey, Melissa, Ashley, Kris, Riley, Brittney, Kalle, and Keenan, as well as numerous great Grandchildren.

Funeral services are to be held at the Legion Hall on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022 with an Internment to follow at the Hudson Bay Town Cemetery.

The family would like to ask that donations are made in lieu of flowers to:
