Obituary for Robert John Nicholson

Robert John Nicholson
Robert was born to John and Helen Nicholson on May 8th, 1937 in Muskegon Sask. He grew up and went to school in this district. While growing up he worked on the farm with his mom and dad. It was while working at Kendall Service when he met the love of his life Irene. They were married on March 25th 1959. They had 5 children: Robert, Cheryl, Dennis, Wayne and Trevor.
Throughout the years Robert wore many hats. He worked at Kendall’s Service for Lloyd and Mina Kendall from 1959 to 1977. During that time he hauled lumber, delivered fuel, drove school bus and completed general repairs in the shop. Fixing large tractor tires was far from his favourite thing to do, but he did it anyways and with a smile. In 1977 Robert and Irene purchased Kendall’s Service and carried on operations until 1991. Over those years at the shop he developed many life long friendships. Robert was a very social and outgoing person, he was a part of the Prairie River Hall Board and enjoyed helping organize the PR sports day to ensure it was a success. Robert continued on driving the school bus right up until 2002 when he finally retired and they moved to Porcupine Plain.
In retirement, Robert enjoyed heading over to his son’s shop, Nicholson Service, where he was in charge of customer relations and coffee quality control. When Robert did have spare time he preferred to spend it with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and scanning the Hudson Bay Post and Star Phoenix to clip out any articles that sparked his interest. Robert loved to joke around and test the limits of someone’s sense of humour.
Robert was predeceased by his parents John and Helen Nicholson, in-laws Lloyd and Mina Kendall, son Dennis Nicholson, son in law Ryan Belchamber and sister Shirley Nicholson.
He is survived by his wife Irene Nicholson, son Robert Nicholson (Colette), daughter Cheryl Belchamber, son Wayne Nicholson (Laura), son Trevor Nicholson. His grandchildren Melissa Christianson (Jeff), Robert Nicholson (Theresa), Nicole Johnson (Ryan), Michael Belchamber (Shae), Travis Nicholson, Alisha Nicholson, Amanda Morin (Chris), Brandon Nicholson (Austyn), Morgan Nicholson (Devynn), 17 great grandchildren, brother Ron Nicholson (Judy), sister Verla Mullock, sister Carolyn Nicholson, several brother and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.
