Obituary for Lloyd Thorpe

Lloyd Thorpe
Beryl Lawrence Lloyd Thorpe was born June 17, 1946. Lloyd was the third of five sons to Art and Daisy. He grew up in Porcupine Plain, SK.

When he was young he could be found swimming in the creek, hunting, trapping, fishing and playing ball or hockey with his four brothers.

He started his working career at a young age. When he was 15, he left home and went rolling logs in B.C.
When he came home, his love for cars took over and he began tinkering, fixing vehicles and lawn mowers. Basically anything with an engine! Soon Lloyd and his best friend opened a garage where he worked for years and when Matt passed the garage went too. He then worked at the dehy, but it wasn't the life for him. He soon came home and opened the garage again, but once more had to close down. The third time he opened a garage he had too much competition with three other shops in town, but was soon offered a job at the CO-OP garage, where he worked until his retirement in 2012.

Lloyd married Sandra in February of 1980 and they were blessed with four children and his children were the world to him. Summers were spent at the lake swimming and fishing, while winters were spent skidooing, ice fishing , hunting and trapping. He taught all his children how to do these things. Special memories were made with his numerous fishing trips up North with his boys. As the years went on his family started growing and he loved nothing more than spending time with them. Especially his 12 grand kids. He was proud and talked fondly of all of them, teaching them how to hunt, fish, trap etc along the way. In December of 2012, he was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and he never gave up hope. He fought along hard battle for eight and a half years.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Sandra of 41 years; sons Curtis (Valeasha) and Calvin (Cheri); daughters Cristin (Eddie) and Candice (Gerritt); grandchildren Kaycie, Chloe, Emma, Peyton, Brandon, Sawyer, Carter, Ezmay, Cayden, Heston, Jayce and Liam; brothers Harold and Dwight (Elizabeth), brothers in law Joe (Lousie), Harvey, and Roger (Laverna); sister in law Kathleen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by; his parents Art and Daisy; brothers Delmer and Artie; parents in law Alfred and Annie; brother in law Lenord; sister in law Zonie and his best friend Matt.
