Obituary for Dorothy June Binkley (Ferguson)

Dorothy June Binkley was born June 18, 1930 to Dave and Lottie Ferguson at Hudson Bay Junction, the youngest of seven children.

Mom’s younger years were spent on the farm, where she had many fond memories of the dairy business her parents ran, the first in Hudson Bay. She recalled making milk deliveries with her dad and spoke often of
swimming in the river, which she loved to do. Mom loved living in the
country and eventually her and Dad moved to Etomami where they
spent the better part of their married life, making lifetime friends.
She loved her flowers, yard and huge vegetable garden eventually
adding a few animals to the mix.

Greenwater Lake was a special place for Mom where we had a cabin for a few years and years later, when Vaughn had Fisherman’s Cove, they set up a camper nearby, making more memories. Mom often said that the best years of their retirement were the 8 winters they spent in Yuma. But her most
enjoyment came from having her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren around. Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter were special family times and we will never forget them and will cherish those
memories forever.

Mom’s interests over the years included playing the piano (which she was proficient at and played by ear), curling, shopping for deals, canning,
painting, garage sales and playing cards. The best pies were made by mom, her pastry was second to none. Above all Mom had a sense of humour
and always enjoyed a good laugh.

Mom is survived by her husband of over 70 years – Norman
Sons – Vaughn (Sue) – Wendy (Glen), JoAnne (Randy), Sandy
