Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Marlene Zolkavich can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Marlene Marjorie Zolkavich

Marlene Marjorie (Scott) Zolkavich passed away in the early morning in Hudson Bay on May 15th after a short illness. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday May 20th in the Community Rec Center in Weekes, Sk at 2 pm followed by internment at the Weekes Cemetary. Please join the family for lunch afterwards in the Rec Center.

Marlene was born May 24th, 1955 and was raised by her parents Charles and Sarah Scott in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. She gained her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in 1977 at the Keewatin Community College, The Pas, Manitoba. She went on to have a long nursing career in the Flin Flon General Hospital, Regina General Hospital and Sask Health Care in Hudson Bay.

She married John Zolkavich on December 23, 1994 in Balgonie, Sk where they lived together until moving to their acreage just outside of Hudson Bay, Sk in 2004. Marlene was able to enjoy some of her favourite times while gardening, reading and sitting by the fish pond or bonfire. She was also able to share her love of animals with many dogs, cats and birds. Marlene and John loved to travel by cruise ship.

Marlene was predeceased by her mother, father and brother Ronald Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband John Zolkavich, sister Eleanor (Fred) Read, niece Patty (Rob) Killick, Nephew Robert (Lori) Read, Stepsons Wayne Zolkavich, Terry (Carly) Zolkavich, Todd Zolkavich, Grand Children Samantha, Nicholas, Grace, Kate, Annie and Ryan.

The Family has requested in lieu of flowers a donation be made to one of Marlene’s favourite charities The Salvation Army.
