Obituary for Leonard James Svennes

Leonard Svennes was born on October 14, 1958 in Porcupine Plain, SK to parents Jim & Annie Svennes. Leonard was the youngest of two children. He grew up on his family farm west of Chelan, SK. Leonard enjoyed working outside with animals and helped his neighbours with live stock when he could. He attended school in Chelan from 1964-1968 and then attended school in Bjorkdale from 1968-1974. At age 16 Leonard entered the workforce and worked various jobs including Mid West Drilling, open pit mining in Uranium City, and the RM of Bjorkdale as a grader operator. In 1994 he found his true passion being an operator on the pipeline. Leonard pipelined until the present.
In 1981 Leonard met Maxine Dmytriw, and in December of 1984 they were married. To their union they welcomed two daughters Chantelle and Renée, and a son Dwayne, which completed their family. They spent 10 years living in Porcupine Plain. In 1994 Leonard and Maxine moved out to their current acreage. They enjoyed countless hours together perfecting their yard.
Leonard's true passion in life was music. He played many years with the band Prairie Mist. He was known for packing the dance floor. In recent years, Leonard loved to play his guitar for his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them dance and sing along. He loved to take his grandkids for rides on his quad and enjoyed spending time with them in any way he could. He also loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with family.
