Obituary for Dora Rupchan (Leson)

Dora Rupchan was born on February 14,1920 to Katrina and Metro Leson at Usherville, Sask. She took her schooling in the area.
Dora married Nick Rupchan on August 28, of 1935. Seven years later they started their family: Nancy, Nelson, Nettie, Nellie, Neil, and Norman who passed away in infancy.
Dora and Nick struggled to get ahead farming but decided to sell and try their hand at pulpwood. They bought a truck and made a move to Reserve in 1955, where Nick had a pulpwood contract, where Dora worked along side with him. Dora loved the spruce trees and always planted them in her yards. She loved to see the birds come to nest in the trees.
Dora loved her sports days and as a young woman she loved playing softball and would walk 5 miles just to play. She also had a love for music and old time dances.
Dora always grew a large garden and was so pleased with her crop of vegetables. She also loved to go berry picking. Dora loved fishing at McBride Lake. Goose hunting season always found Dora plucking goose down for pillows and duvets.
In later years Dora moved to Regina, where she made many dear friends. Friends are precious at any age!
Dora loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays, and loved doing volunteer work for church. She also did many hours of volunteering for the Regina Food Bank where they honoured her with an award from the city of Regina for her dedication and hard work.
Dora loved the Royal Family. She took pleasure in collecting memorabilia of the Royal Family, fine china plates, cups, spoons, and books for her children.
Dora was predeceased by her parents Metro and Katrina Leson; husband Nick; son Norman; grandsons: Scott Rupchan and Michael Vizina; sisters: Mary, Polly, Sadie, Verna, Jenny; brothers: Bill in infancy, John, and George; sons-in-law: Dale Vizina and Charles Allen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Don Walters, Mary, Dora, Agnes, Bill, Jim, John, Art, Elizabeth, Lena, Paul, George, and Kay Rupchan.
