Obituary for Stanley Douglas Martin

Stanley Douglas Martin
Stanley Douglas Martin was born on October 11, 1942 in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan to Ray and Myrtle Martin, the fourth of seven children. He grew up on the farm in the Smokey Ridge district where he also attended school. He left school early to start working with his brother Gary building roads for the RM. After a failed attempt to become a miner in Thompson, Stan embarked on a 40 year career working in the Woodlands Department for MacMillan Bloedel back home in Hudson Bay.
Stan met Verna Adams and they were married on August 12, 1967. To this union were born daughter Kerri in 1970 and son Trevor in 1972. Stan was a very devoted father who attended or coached many hockey, ringette, and baseball games.
Stan was an avid outdoorsman who cherished time spent camping, fishing, and hunting (especially elk hunting!) Stan and Verna camped for 42 consecutive years at their favorite spot at Simonhouse Lake in Manitoba. Stan loved snowmobiling and ATVing and was proud member of the Hudson Bay branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and Hudson Bay Trail Riders.
Stan is survived by Verna his wife of 55 years; daughter Kerri Martin and son Trevor (Sherrie) Martin; granddaughters Kierra (Zachary) Hills, Kailey (Jean Bramley) Budd, Taryn Martin, and Deveryn Martin; great grandchildren Kinsleigh Hills, Kolson Hills, and Lillian Bramley; sister Judy (Ken) Cox; and many nieces, nephews, hunting/fishing buddies, and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks you to buy a Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation membership or donate to the Hudson Bay Union Hospital.
