Obituary for Marjorie Grace Johnson

Marjorie Grace Johnson
Marjorie Grace Johnson passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 after a long, full life on the Prairies. Marjorie was born March 4, 1922 in Sandridge, MB. She was the baby of the family with three brothers and two sisters and was born to Stennet and Emily Goy. The Goy family experienced all the hardships common to a homesteader’s life at that time of the Great Depression.
Marjorie married Robert Harry Johnson on March 19, 1941. Excepting Harry’s war time with the Calgary Highlanders during WWII, they lived, farmed, and raised their five children in the Neely Lake District until 1986. These challenging, but rewarding, decades were filled with love and laughter with their family and friends. Marjorie was a fierce card player and joke maker, fine swimmer of our Woody Lakes, and without equal when it came to baking buns and bread. She lived contentedly and independently in her house in Hudson Bay, SK until she was 99 years old, before moving to the Long Term Care Facility where she celebrated her 100th birthday.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Harvey Johnson, Gordon (Maureen) Johnson, Marie (Kirby) Wolstenholme, and Val (Don) Campbell as well as eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 2003, her daughter, Jean (Donny) Crosswel, in 2004, and daughter-in-law, Faye (Harvey) Johnson in 2022.
Marjorie was the last of her generation. A generation upon whose shoulders her family all now stand.
The funeral will be held at St. Stephens United Church in Hudson Bay, SK on November 19th at 11AM. Interment to follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. Please hold all gifts or donations for a charity of your choice, or for candy to be enjoyed while you remember Marj and her enduring sweet tooth.
