Obituary for Wilfred James "Wilf" Digness

Wilfred James "Wilf" Digness
Wilfred (Wilf) James Digness, 75, of Porcupine Plain, SK passed away peacefully on October 7, 2022. He was born to parents Josephine and Harold Digness on July 30, 1947. Wilf’s birth was the beginning of his lifelong love of Ford vehicles – he was born in his parents’ Ford Model A on the way to the hospital. The passing of his father when Wilf was a teenager had a profound effect and Wilf always spoke fondly of his father.
On October 1, 1966 he married Gladys Whitford. In their early years of marriage, Wilf worked in several different jobs, including road construction, the MacMillan Bloedel sawmill, and as a truck driver (which enabled him to brag about having a Class 1A licence whenever one of his children or Gladys questioned his driving skills). Wilf had a gregarious personality and loved telling stories. He was an announcer for gymkhana events and enjoyed watching the rodeo. Along with Gladys, he ran Digness Janitorial in the Porcupine Plain area until their retirement in 2018. Gladys’s passing in April 2020 devastated Wilf and he spoke every day of his love for her.
He is predeceased by his wife Gladys; his parents Harold and Josephine Digness; his sisters Lillian Touet and Violet Moore; and his brothers Lawrence, Harold and Herbert Digness. He is survived by his five children: Brent Digness (Trinidad), Deon Black (Wesley), Clinton Digness, Mandy Kolybaba (Glen), and Raquel Digness-Froese (Aaron), his many grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, his sister Naomi Stacey, his sister-in-law Lily Earnshaw, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.A Private Family Graveside Service was held on October 11, 2022. Arrangements in the care of Blair's Funeral Home Ltd. (306) 278-2202, Porcupine Plain.
