Obituary for Arnold Oswald Neu

Arnold was born to Johann and Emelia Neu at their homestead near Southey, SK as the second youngest of 10 children. The family moved to Star City, SK when Arnold was 2 years old.
He worked hard his whole life at various jobs. In his younger years Arnold drove cat to build highways and did a few years of custom combining which allowed him the opportunity to travel around Canada and the United States. After marrying Joan Hill in July of 1953, they spent a few years, and had a few kids, in Star City before buying land and moving to Hudson Bay in 1963.
With Joan’s help, Arnold built a good life in Hudson Bay for his family. He’s left behind the legacy of a successful family farm passed on now to his son and grandson. He is also known far and wide as an honest and fair employer in the Logging industry and enjoyed his many years in the bush.
Arnold loved his friends and being sociable. Many BBQ’s, beers, and whiskeys were enjoyed with his many colleagues and friends. A lot of shenanigans happened in those years, and his love for life was evident to all. As he aged, he became a voracious reader, and it likely isn’t an exaggeration to say he’s read half of the books in the public library!
Arnold accomplished many things in his life, he earned a pilot’s license and loved to fly, he studied for and passed his Steam Ticket and enjoyed showing off his skills at the Yorkton Thresherman’s show. He loved adrenaline rushes and learned to downhill ski at a later age, he even conquered the Calgary Bobsleigh and Luge track in 1987!
But Arnold’s biggest joy was when his children brought grandchildren home. He loved babies and enjoyed being able to explore the world through their eyes. He found patience with his grandchildren that he didn’t necessarily have with his children, and they love him for it!
Survived by his wife Joan of 69 years, sister Tilly, brother Gordan, children Noreen, Keith (Monica), Linda, Lois, Valerie (Darryn) and his 12 Grandchildren Natasha, Derek, Rebecca, Dietrich, Colton (Sydney), Connor (Jordan), Tasia, Hudson, Harrison, Emily, Emelia and Grace, and 2 great grandchildren Remy and Malakai.
