Obituary for Alice Prose Grandguillot (Goodwin)

Alice Prose  Grandguillot (Goodwin)
Alice Primrose Grandguillot (Goodwin) passed away February 9, 2022, at Chateau Providence, St. Brieux, SK, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 6, 1920, in Stonewall, Manitoba, to George and Primrose Goodwin. She was the eldest of four children.

Alice left the family farm and worked at northern cooking jobs, in Ontario and Saskatchewan. She also worked at Grace Hospital, and later at the University of Manitoba where she met her life partner Remi. They were married in 1957 and welcomed three sons and one daughter into their lives. They resided in Winnipeg and La Salle until moving to Prairie River in 1977. When Alice set her mind to something, she gave it her all. Volunteering countless hours with the Prairie River Seniors Centre, the United Church, the museum, teas, and bazaars as well as baking, cooking, and sewing for special events.

She is predeceased by her husband Remi Grandguillot, son Donald Grandguillot, parents George and Primrose Goodwin, brother Tom Goodwin and wife Irene, sister Eleanor Miller, grandson Justin McLean, and grandson Tanner Halland.

Alice is survived by her sister Hazel Percy, her sons August (Delphine) Grandguillot, Stewart (Judy) Grandguillot, daughter Valerie McLean (Joël Lachance), grandchildren Sherry-Lynn (Mike) Baschuk, Shawn (Jennifer) Grandguillot, Aaron Grandguillot (Gena Shepherd), Matthew Grandguillot, Blaine Grandguillot (Justine Cassidy), Nicole Halland, Christopher McLean, Will McLean, great grandchildren Nicholas and Dani-Lynn Baschuk, Breanna and Lucas Grandguillot, Cooper Halland, as well as her (favourite) nieces and nephews, and friends who were very dear to her heart.

Thank you to the staff at Chateau Providence for their compassionate care. She along with her family are grateful for the love they provided.
