Metro was born September 8, 1932 to parents , John and Katherine Borowetz on the family farm near Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. Metro attended Fair Haven School in the Veillardville area. After leaving school, he worked with his brothers in the bush, and later worked for the CNR in the Hudson Bay Area.
 
In 1970, Metro married Olga Holowchuk (nee Okraincee) of Weekes and farmed with her there until retiring in 1990 after which the land was rented out.
 
Metro will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Olga, sisters Anne (Bill) Soloway, Katie (Roman) Okraincee, Mary Borowetz, Stella Gallant, Olga (Orest) Zagrobelny,  sister-in-law Olga Borowetz, as well as his twin brother, Steve (Angeline), sisters-in-law Diane Okraincee and Lily Lethbridge, and many nieces and nephews. Metro will also be sadly missed by friends and neighbours.
 
Metro was predeceased by his parents, John and Katherine, brothers John (Anne), Mike (Violet), Peter (Olga), and George (Olga), brothers-in-law: Peter and Steve Okraincee and Frank Gallant; and sister-in-law Mary Tanghe.
