Stella McDermid was born in Alvena Saskatchewan to parents Pat and Walter Yablonski. She married Malcolm John McDermid on July 6, 1943. They spent the early years of their marriage in Armit Saskatchewan and resided there until 1972 when they moved to Erwood Saskatchewan. They had 5 children together: Peggy, Ilene, Patsy, Ronald and Judy.

John passed away in 1994 but Stella remained in the house they shared together for many years with her beloved flowers, garden and trees, among her many friends and neighbours. Stella loved having company and always had an open door to all. There was always room for one more at her table. A cup of tea and a goodie was waiting for whoever happened to stop by.

Stella was incredibly loved by everyone who knew her and she returned that love tenfold. No one wanted for anything if she had her way. She touched many lives.

Sadly the circle of life has come to an end for the matriarch of our family. Our hearts are broken.

She is missed so very much but there is comfort in knowing she is now at peace with the Lord.

Stella was predeceased by; her husband John, daughter Ilene Kachkowski, parents Pat and Walter Yablonski.

Stella is survived by her four remaining children and their spouses; Peggy (Ron) Trafford, Patsy (Rene) Spocchi, Ronald (Tia) McDermid, Judy McDermid. 9 grandchildren; Lorlie, Merlin, Chrissy, Barry, Kyle, Caitlyn, Tania, Dean and Jordan as well as her 9 great grandchildren. Included are her Brother and sister in law Nap and Stella Yablonski, and sister Wanda Wright as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
