Robert Henry Wilson (Bob) eldest son of Andy and Lillian Wilson was born in Tisdale, Sask on Aug. 3, 1929. He and his brother Ted and sisters Wilma and Irene attended the Pembina one room school in the Arborfield district for their elementary grades. Bob then took his high school in Tisdale, Sk. graduating Grade 12 in 1948. He worked in the Tisdale Co-op branch store in New Osgoode where he met Norma Jane Sawyer. They were married in 1951 and moved to Leroy, Neville and Swift Current Sask. managing Co-op stores. In 1954 they moved to Prairie River to help his Uncle Albert Wilson run the hardware store and to begin his farming career. In 1964 he built a new house on some lease land he purchased west of Prairie River and the family along with the family dog Rusty moved to the farm. He worked in the bush in the winter time for Kendall and Iverson sawmill and also became an insurance agent for SGIO....all to help subsidize the farm. He was an active community member and served on many boards and committees....local school board, active member of the N.D.P., hall board, curling club, and Sask Wheat Pool Committee. He was chairman of Hudson Bay School Unit Board, secretary of Hudson Bay Alfalfa Dehy Plant...travelling to Japan to sell Saskatchewan Dehy to the Japanese cattle farmers! He was 48 years old when he got his pilot’s licence and purchased a Cessna 182 four passenger airplane. He was always happy when new people moved to Hudson Bay so he could take them for an airplane ride! He was also an active and proud member of the Rotary Club and attended Rotary conventions throughout Canada and other parts of the world but especially enjoyed the convention in Australia where his brother Ted lived and was also a Rotary member. They also hosted exchange students in their home through the Rotary exchange program. He helped deliver Meals on Wheels, was on the Hudson Bay Pioneer Lodge board of directors and was a member of the Masons. After Norma died in Nov 2012 he moved to the McKay Towers in Tisdale when his own health began to deteriorate.
