Obituary for Irene Theresa Bedesky

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Bedesky announce her passing on April 13, 2020 at the age of 95. Irene will be missed by: her son Roy (Barb); grandchildren, Fay (Joe Kulyk), Lisa Saul, Julie Bedesky, Matthew Bedesky and Monte Perepelkin; great grandchildren, Hailey, Nixon, Sephrah and Aspyn, Danielle and Hailey, along with many more nieces and nephews. Irene is predeceased by: her parents, Tereza and Stephan Czank; brothers, Rudolph, Leslie, (Irene) Jerry (gwen); sisters, Marion and Ethel (Donald) Holman; as well as her husband, Ambrose Bedesky.

When Irene was 4, her family emigrated from Hungary to Otley, SK, where they farmed for a bit. In 1935 they then moved east to Welland, Ont. In 1940 she wed Ambrose Bedesky and in 1941 welcomed their son Roy. Soon after Ambrose was conscripted. During the war, Irene worked at Atlas Steel on the overhead crane. She always said that was her best job. After the war the young family moved to Bannock, SK to pursue a dream of logging contracting. The work was hard and at times they became disillusioned and would eventually pack up and move once again to Welland, then Kindersley, then Saskatoon and back to Hudson Bay. The dream came true for 12 years until Ambrose fell ill, prompting the family to move to Dunville, Ont. There in Dunville Ambrose passed. Irene took up a career in Real Estate, for a time. She then purchased a chicken farm and raised chicken commercially for KFC. After a few years she continued her career in Real Estate. In time, Irene’s family ties called her to move to Thunder Bay, then Nipawin and finally back to Hudson Bay. All in order to be closer to her sister Ethel Holman, son Roy and grandchildren whom she loved dearly and enjoyed for many years. Irene was very active in the church. She always helped out at the fundraisers, funerals and delivered fresh flowers weekly. She took her strength from her strong faith. Irene will be greatly missed.

God Bless You and Rest In Peace.
