Obituary for Sarah Elizabeth "Sadie" Lucier

It is with profound sadness that the family of Sarah (Sadie) Elizabeth Lucier announce her passing on March 24, 2020 in Saskatoon at the age of 74 years. Sadie is lovingly remembered and survived by her family, Darren (Linda) children Braden and Alyssa; Darwin; Michelle (Glen) children Ashton and Logan and Melanie (John) children Chiara , Colton and Chase, along with her sisters Edna, Lois, Linda (Barry), and brothers Gordon (Marlene) and Ronnie (Ann). Sadie also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and extended family. Sadie was predeceased by her husband Leo, her parents Grace and Frank, and brothers Walter and Mervin. Sadie was born to Frank and Grace Lee in Tisdale on Nov 23, 1945 and grew up there with her many brothers and sisters. She spent most of her young life living in Tisdale and Bjorkdale, until one fateful night when she was introduced to the man who would sweep her off her feet by the name of Leo Lucier. They were married on April 11, 1964 and eventually settled in Hudson Bay where they would raise their four children. Sadie started work at SaskPly (later Weyerhauser) while Leo was employed driving trucks. Sadie and Leo were happily married for 26 years before Leo’s tragic passing in 1990. It was with the love and strength of Sadie’s many friends and family who came to her side to help her through this difficult time. Sadie continued to raise her family and eventually welcomed more members into her life and heart. Her dear friend Gary, and his son Ray (Cheri) and their son Hunter, granddaughter Amy and little Sarah Leigh who called her grandma, became a cherished part of Sadie’s life, always looking forward to their visits. With the arrival of more grandchildren, Sadie’s house became a busy one. She was always one to have an open door policy and there was always people dropping by for coffee. She was always more than willing to throw together a meal if she thought you were hungry. She enjoyed getting out to her garage sales, bingo, and spending time with her many dear friends and extended family. Sadie loved to cook for everyone and you would never leave her house empty handed. She was always sending bags of cabbage rolls and perogies off with family and friends. After her retirement from Weyerhauser, Sadie spent many hours at the local sporting facilities watching her grandchildren in their many pursuits. She also looked forward to Heritage days every year because it meant her entire family was all together once again and took pride in watching members of her family sing. Sadies health may have started to decline over the last few years, but her desire to spend time with friends and family did not. She enjoyed her puzzle times, watching hockey, and chatting with everyone who called or dropped by. A fixture at the local arena, she always looked forward to talking with friends. Sadie had very special friends in her life, and she cherished each and everyone. She always had coffee and smiles for everyone who stopped by. She loved having get-togethers, especially on their birthdays, and often made sure they left with full bellies. Sadie touched the hearts of many people in her life. She was one of the most generous, loving and giving women known. Never one to turn her back on someone who needed her, she will be sorely missed by all those who knew her. The family would like to thank the hospital staff of the Hudson Bay Hospital, as well as a special thank you to the Nursing Unit 6203 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for accommodating her family in a very difficult time. As per Sadie’s request there will be no funeral but a private family service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in which we invite all of her friends and family to share their stories and laughter. It is what she loved the most.
