Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Achille 'Archie' Doucette can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Achille 'Archie' Robert Doucette

Achille “Archie” Robert Doucette passed away on December 1, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Archie was born on July 3, 1940, in Rosthern, SK. Archie is the youngest child of Ernest and Marguerite Doucette of Duck Lake, SK. He grew up on the farm in La Palin where he fell in love with horses. Archie could always be found at surrounding towns watching the wagon races, where he would cheer on his favorite drivers.
Archie married the love of his life, Florence Parenteau on October 24, 1959. They had three children. Archie and Florence raised their children in Saskatoon until they bought their first hotel in 1978. Archie and Florence have had numerous hotels over the years but their last hotel in Porcupine Plain is where they have call home since 2002. Besides being a hotel owner, Archie started “Archie’s Fish and Sausage.” Archie would travel the province selling his fish and sausage. He loved interacting with his customers and just shooting the breeze.
Archie was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Marguerite Doucette, his siblings Louis Doucette, Marcien Doucette, Harvey Doucette, Adrien Doucette, Denise Harder and Solange Perillat.
Archie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Florence. Children, Chuck (Leslie), their children, Boyd (Larisa), Brett (Brittany) and Britten (Jen), daughters, Paulette Martin and her children Zoe and Nicolas Martin, Audrey Severson (Steve), her children Kyle Severson, Austin (Melissa) Severson and Kortni Severson (Braden). Archie is also survived by his three great grandchildren, Lucas and Jett Severson and Sawyer Harness.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude and sincere heartfelt thanks to the staff at Porcupine Caragana Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care of Archie during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Porcupine Caragana Hospital. A graveside service will be held in Duck Lake on July 5, 2020.
