Obituary for Eva Blaskow (Gullason)

Eva was born April 9, 1931 on the farm near Usherville, Saskatchewan. Eva grew up on the farm with 7 siblings: 6 sisters and 1 brother. Eva was the youngest. Eva and her brother John moved to Alberta to work for a short time. Eva then met Peter Blaskow and eventually they were married on June 6, 1957. They had 59 wonderful years together along with their son Ronald and daughter Roxanne.

Eva and Peter lived in Reserve, Saskatchewan from 1957—1959 as Peter was working for the Pas Lumber Company. In 1959 Peter’s job (The Timber Board) moved him and Eva to Big River, Saskatchewan. Ronald was born in Big River, Saskatchewan in 1961. Eva and Peter resided in Big River until 1965. At that time Peter was hired by the Simpson Timber Company in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan where they moved to. Roxanne was born in 1967 in Hudson Bay Saskatchewan. Eva and Peter have resided in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan until their passing (Peter in 2016).

Eva took pride in being a full time homemaker, raising both her children as well as took on a few full time babysitting jobs, which soon they too became just like family. Eva and Peter had a basement suite that they rented out, soon Eva became like family to all her renters.

Eva and Peter enjoyed their cabin at McBride Lake, Saskatchewan, where they fished, snowmobiled, logged, enjoyed entertaining neighbouring cabin friends and family as well as enjoyed music and dancing. Eva also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Eva loved to cook, she loved to garden, as well as loved her flowers and mostly her raspberry patch. Eva loved making raspberry jam and jelly, cabbage rolls and perogies, she took many an order for the making, over the years. Eva loved to watch “ The Young and Restless,” which over the years, Peter joined in on the watching with her.

Eva, along with Peter’s love for Christmas lights volunteered for the Hospital Auxiliary with the Christmas Greeting Board. Eva was part of the St. Stephen's United Church and volunteered over the years when she could.

Eva is survived by her two children: Ronald Blaskow of Willingdon, Alberta, and Roxanne (Lawrie) George of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; three grandchildren: Shayla Blaskow, Josh Blaskow, Braxx (Shaelyn Grassick) George; brother-in-law Mike (Barb) Blaskow of Blue Ridge, Alberta.

Eva is predeceased by her husband Peter and parents Peter and Alexandra Gullason.
