Obituary for Edith Beatty (Watt)

With great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother Edith at the Red Deer Nursing Home on May 11, 2019 at the age of 98.
Edith was the second of two daughters born to Amelie Watt (Bell ) and Frank Watt of Chelan. Her parents were both from the Dundee area of Scotland and had immigrated to Canada during the World War 1 era.
Edith was born on May 8, 1921 in Yellowgrass, Sask and grew up on the second family farm near Chelan. She was predeceased by her husband David, sister and best friend Iris Hill (John). Edith is survived by her daughter Debra Brough (Robert ); son Stuart ; son Donald (Lynn Davis) and grandchildren: Brent Brough (Sharee), Devin Brough(Courtney), Jocelyn Corby(Matthew), Shawna Day(Chris), Sharla Beatty, Shane Beatty, Sarah Daniels (Colin), Alexander Beatty ( Ashley Jones ). Edith also took great pride and enjoyment in seeing and hearing about her many great-grandchildren.
Edith and her husband raised their children first in Chelan and later in Lynn Lake, Manitoba. Edith and Dave retired to the Chelan and Porcupine area where they remained until their passing.
Edith loved reading and later in life when her eyes failed her she resorted to audio books. Watching sports on tv gave her great pleasure but mainly she enjoyed watching her husband, children and later grandchildren participate in various sports. She would often be found playing cards with her sister Iris and other friends. Edith also enjoyed an evening of dining out or getting up on the dance floor. Her main love however, was to travel the country to visit her children and grandchildren or to host them as guests. Visiting her children and grandchildren took her across the country many times, from Nova Scotia to Flin Flon Manitoba, Edmonton or Kamloops, she loved every minute.
The family would like to express their great appreciation to the Red Deer Nursing Home staff for the excellent care and love that Edith received. We truly felt they treated her as family.
A family graveside service will be held on May 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, condolences can be placed on the Blair’s Funeral Home site http://www.blairsfuneralhome.com
