Obituary for
Edward "Ted" Serhan
Ted (Edward) Norman Serhan was born December 4, 1934, to John and Lena Serhan on the farm north of Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. Ted being one of the younger boys, stayed at home with his mom until he was 10. Once the Rivercrest school was built, he attended school with his brothers until grade 8. He continued school in Porcupine Plain for grade 9. He decided that was enough school for him, and entered the workforce. He started out running cat in the Porcupine Plain area, but soon decided to head east with some buddies and worked construction in Toronto for approx 7 years. He quit his job there each time one of his brothers got married, returning to work for the first two but stayed after Ernest's wedding because he met a girl. Ted married Mary Eisler on April 12, 1961. They started out in Porcupine Plain, and purchased the farm north of town in 1962. They would call this home for 52 years. The kids started arriving on the scene with Terry in 1962, Roxane in 1964 and finally Rodney in 1969. Ted farmed with Mary at his side, growing grain, raising cattle, pigs, and chickens over the years. He took pride in his yard and the appearance of it. Ted was always busy. He had many hobbies including woodworking, tinkering in his shop, gardening, food critic, picking mushrooms, quadding, generally any type of gathering at all, playing with his grand kids and getting into trouble any chance he got. The entire community benefited from his talents, whether it was fixing a chair, or building cub scout cars. He could just look at something and build it without a pattern. Even though he kept busy, people were most important to Ted, he made time for anyone that came 'round and was happiest surrounded by the people he loved. He had a magnetic personality, unforgettable smile, and people loved him just as much as he loved them. Ted and Mary sold the farm and moved into town in 2014. Ted was predeceased by his wife Mary; daughter Roxane Fredsberg; parents John and Lena Serhan; sister-in-law Joyce Serhan; parents-in-law Morris and Mary Eisler; and brother-in-law Joe Eisler. He is lovingly remembered by his children; son Terry (Rhonda) and their family: Kaitlyn, Michaela and Bailey; son-in-law Vern Fredsberg and his family: Trevor (Adelida) Barrett and Payton and Brady Fredsberg; son Rodney (Tara) and their family Courtney and Corey Serhan; brothers Joe (Mary) Serhan, Bill Serhan, Ernest (Ann) Serhan and Ron (Diane) Serhan; Brother-in-law John (Erma) Eisler; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
