Obituary for Rudy William Cherkowski

Born December 21, 1937, to Mike and Stella Cherkowski in Canora, SK, to all who knew him, he was one of a kind and left a memory of good times and laughter.
He was raised in Preeceville until the age of 10, his family then moved to Hudson Bay where he received his high school diploma. He attended 2 years at the University of Saskatchewan. He married his high school sweetheart Rosalie (nee Marcotte) on September 23, 1959. Together they were blessed with 4 children.
He and his wife lived a brief time in Radium Hot Springs, BC and Watterton National Park, AB before returning to Hudson Bay, SK where they called home for the rest of his life. In 1963 Rudy took over the family business, Marcotte Motors Dealership, where he served the community with outstanding customer service until 2006. His passion for farming brought him joy from 1975 until presently; he even did the fall work in October for his son Mark, who took over the farm in 2009.
Rudy was a faithful member of the St. Dominic’s Church where he and his wife attended on a regular basis and delivered pastoral care for 20 years. He was a Charter Member and Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. His love for organizing the yearly fishing trips and the fun they had is fondly remembered by the K of C members.
Rudy was known for his love of entertaining, cooking, camping, fishing, hunting, sledding, golfing, singing and spending family time together at their cabin at Ruby Lake as the children grew. More recently he and his wife delighted in 13 years of wintering in Yuma, AZ.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, Mike and Stella Cherkowski; in-laws Donald and Josephine Marcotte.
Rudy is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years Rosalie Cherkowski; his brothers Ernie (Eleanor) Cherkowski, Marion (Shelley) Cherkowski, Michael (Dixie) Cherkowski and Martin Cherkowski; his children Debbie (Terry) Rychjohn, Michael Cherkowski, Mark (Terri-Lynn) Cherkowski, Jeff (Sheri) Cherkowski; grandchildren Garrett (Lori), Coty, Tanner, Nathan and Lauren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
