Obituary for Garth Tessmer

Garth Wesley Tessmer passed away peacefully Thursday, September 13, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. From his birth on June 16, 1935, at the Red Deer Outpost Hospital in Carragana, Saskatchewan, to Leo and Margaret (Peggy) Tessmer, Garth lived in the Somme area. He married his loving wife and best friend of 54 years, Dorothy Rosenfeldt on November 12, 1960, and raised their family together on the farm. Garth farmed his family land until his retirement in 1998 and he and his wife moved to Hudson Bay in 2006. He was an active member in the community throughout his life being an avid curler and looking after the Somme Curling Rink for many years. Yearly, you would find him volunteering and participating at the Shand Fair in a variety of categories. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Weekes along with his wife Dorothy who was a member of the Royal Purple. Throughout the years he enjoyed fishing as well as hunting with his family. Left to honor Garth and remember his love and strength are his daughter, Mavis; sons, Garnet (Brenda), Curtis (Andrea); granddaughter Kristen (Alex); great grandson Isaac; sister Donalda (Cecil); brother Willard; nieces and nephews. Garth was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; parents Leo and Margaret; brothers Lellis, Leland, Eldred, Donald, Gordon and Elvin; sister Vera.
