Obituary for Mary "Molly" Louise Cairns (Stegeman)

Mary "Molly" Louise Cairns (Stegeman)
“Molly” was born Mary Louise Stegeman, July 4, 1943. The first child of Wes and Jes Stegeman, and sister to Diane. She grew up on the family farm North of Somme. She met her lifelong partner, Dave Cairns, at a dance in Somme Hall in 1958. They were married in 1961. She spent her life farming in the Blighty District, raising four kids, two boys, Gordon and Garry, and two girls, Kathy and Lynette. Molly touched the hearts of every single person she met. She was an avid bingo player, but when she wasn’t playing bingo, she could be found gardening, cooking, knitting, or attending the ball and hockey games of each of her grandkids and great grandkids. Gramma Molly was an amazing cook, which led to an intense rivalry between the grandkids, who would often take pictures of the food to send to each other in order to make one another jealous. It worked.
Molly was predeceased by her parents, Wes and Jes Stegeman and daughter Lynette. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dave, her sister Diane (Allan), her sister-in-law Marcia (Victor), and brother-in-law Denis (Sharon). Her kids, Gordon (Joanne), Garry (Susanne) and Kathy (Randy), her grandkids, Alissa (Terry), Dallas (Lynn), Ben (Brittany), Shane (Cami), Mallory (Andy),Gregory, Rebecca, and Jessica, and her great-grandchildren, Brady, Wesley, Avery, Cole, Owen, Hayden, Claire, Ryan, Jackson, Abby, Lila, Aubrey, and one on the way, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and two (sought after) bags of perogies. Her family will miss her dearly.
