Obituary for Norman Ted Porsnuk

Norman Ted Porsnuk of Hudson Bay passed away March 2, 2018 at the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility at the age of 75 after a long and difficult battle with emphysema and cancer.
I have fought the good fight…I have finished the race.
- 2 Timothy 4:7
Norman was born east of Porcupine on the homestead. Norman left home at 16 to work with his brother-in-law Bill logging in the bush. At 20 he left to go work in Saskatoon. He spent his time there building sidewalks and curbs on the north end of Saskatoon down Second Avenue. Norman was always the first one to answer the call for help from his family, when he received a call from his sister Vicky asking that he come help with the haying he moved home to do so.
Norman met and started dating Doreen, a couple of years later they married. Soon after Norman started working for Wilfred and Ken Leason in the bush. After a period of time he started working at Simpson Timber. He worked there for 17 years. After Simpsons shut down Norman moved to the SFP Plywood mill and worked there for 20 years. In 2003 Norman had a heart attack that prompted his retirement.
After retirement Norman filled his time with fishing with his favorite people, watching all things sports on tv and going to watch his grandson play football whenever he could. Norman was the first one out plowing snow in the neighborhood whenever he saw that first flake fall. For 17 years he would go to his daughter Lisa’s place and start her school bus so that when she was ready to leave the bus was as warm as any bus gets. Another enjoyment Norman got out of life was sitting outside in the warm summer sun waving and smiling at anyone that drove by.
Norman did everything with his whole heart. His family was most important to him and his life revolved around his grandchildren, they were his greatest source of pride and joy. He spent every moment he could with them, doing what he could for them. To them he was grandpa and papa and they in return loved him completely. Norman’s passing has left a large hole in the hearts of those who loved him.
Norman was predeceased by his father William Porsnuk, mother Rozina (Petroschuk) Porsnuk. His brothers Willie, Joey, Leslie, Peter, and Jim and his sisters Victoria and Mary.
Norman is survived by his wife Doreen (Dickson), daughters Teresa (David) Miller and Lisa (Damen) Hawley. Norman will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Talon and Garion Miller and Tegan, Payten, Kaylie Hawley.
His siblings: Vicky Padalec, Irene Leason, Alice Delowski, Edith Grisdale and Don Edwards.
