Obituary for Bernice Mary Kozak (Adolph)

Bernice was born August 28, 1936 at Whitewood, SK to parents Adam and Bertha Adolph. She grew up on the family farm at Scissors Creek north of Whitewood. Bernice attended Lumby School and worked on the farm.
Bernice married Nick Kozak of Prairie River on November 7, 1964, where they farmed and logged. They had three children: Larry, Mary Ann (Terry) and Gary, and grandsons: Kurtis (Denye) and Kyle (Kelsey).
Up until Larry started school Bernice cooked for all the men in the logging camp.
Nick never liked coffee from a coffee maker so Bernice made coffee on the stove, it was the best coffee around, she always had a fresh pot cooking.
Bernice always enjoyed visiting with her grandson’s Kurtis and Kyle and spoiling them with lots of gifts.
She had a love for animals, at any given time she had at least a dozen cats and lots of deer in the yard. She enjoyed the company of her dog (Jake). With Bernice having Alzheimer’s the last few years, the dog ate numerous times a day, needless to say he gained a few pounds.
Bernice was predeceased by her husband Nick, oldest son Larry, brother Edmund, brothers-in-law: Alex, Mike, Elk and Boden, sisters-in-law: Jean and Irene, and nephew Mervin.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (Terry), son Gary, grandsons: Kurtis (Denye) and Kyle (Kelsey), brothers-in-law: Bill and Matt, sisters-in-law: Olga, Rita, Amy and Sharon, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bernice’s family would like to thank the Doctor’s and Staff of the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility and the Red Deer Nursing Home, Porcupine Plain for the care Bernice received over the last six months.
