Obituary for Leona Ladubec (Powlowski)

Leona Ladubec was born on June 20, 1921 in Wynyard Saskatchewan to parents Anton and Margaret Powlowski.
She must have been a fairly young bride because, in 1939, when she would have been 17, she and her husband, Joe welcomed a daughter, Muriel. Then, in 1943, they welcomed a son, Robert.
In order to help Joe support these children, Leona worked on their farm and spent a couple of winters in Carrot River, cooking at the lumber camp where Joe was working.
Eventually, Muriel and Robert left home and married. Leona enjoyed having them and their children visit her on the farm.
In 1976, they moved into a house when Joe had built here in the town of Kelvington. She was known for her beautiful garden and, was asked to help design the small park near the bakery.
Joe died in 1992 and she stayed in the house which he had built until she moved, a few months ago, to Kelvindell Lodge. She died there on August 8, 2017.
Leona’s daughter Muriel and her son Robert and her grandchildren Dawn, Marcy, Jay, Brenda and Donna along with three great grandchildren are left to cherish her memory and miss her very much.
