Obituary for Dorothy McDonald (Whitford)

Marie-Rose Dorothe (Dorothy) McDonald was born on March 16th, 1943 in Perigord, Saskatchewan to parents Josephine and Albert Whitford. Dorothy grew up around Perigord, Saskatchewan; in the Kelvington Area. She began her education at Bellshill School, then attended Weekes School for a few years before graduating from Kelvington School.
On February 14th, 1979, Dorothy married Myles McDonald. Joining this union were Dorothy’s four children: Cheryl, Joseph, Frances, and Peter. Dorothy worked various jobs over the years, until she became a teacher in 1986. She was also an active member of the Legion and the Roman Catholic Church.
Dorothy enjoyed quilting, beading, gardening, singing, playing guitar, collecting frogs, and volunteering at the Nursing Home.
Dorothy was predeceased by her father Albert Whitford; mother Josephine Whitford (nee Genaille); infant son Patrick; brother Percy Whitford; sisters: Hilda Gleason and Geneva McCormick; and brother-in-law Dave McCormick.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s Memory is her husband Myles McDonald; daughter Cheryl Wilson; sons: Joseph Doyle, Frances Doyle (Vennesa), and Peter Doyle (Mimi); grandchildren: Tricia, Bradley, Brent, Trent, and Kent; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Mateo, Faith, and Mercidez; sisters Lily (Howard) Earnshaw and Gladys (Wilfred) Digness; sister-in-law Elaine Salo; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
