Obituary for Morley Wayne Corbett

Morley Wayne Corbett was born on June 19, 1941 in Winnipeg, MB to parents Willard and Myrtle Corbett. Myrtle Corbett passed away in 1942. After Myrtle’s passing, grandparents Cora and Coleman Corbett looked after Morley, until Willard met Florence Burrell, they married October 20, 1944. Morley grew up in Birch River, MB. He attended Birch River Collegiate School. Morley was also very academic in school, which included very strong leadership skills. Morley was always very good at playing Santa Claus, and he always made sure his brothers and sisters had lots of gifts, and helped his parents buy food to feed the family. Morley was the type of person that would help out anyone, he would give you the shirt off his back to help someone in need. After finishing school, he then went to work for Shackleford Construction, and ran a drag line. He proceeded to work with his uncle Seg Corbett under the name Corbett Construction, there he built roads in the Flin Flon/Creighton areas and the Hansen Lake Road/Jan Lake areas. While working for Corbett Construction he met the love of his life Edna Guderyan, and it was her brother Clifford Guderyan who introduced them, because he was working for Morley and Seg at the time. Morley and Edna got engaged for 3 months and in another 3 months they were married on October 20, 1967. In the summer of 1968, they were blessed with their first child Derrek. Then in the spring of 1972, Morley and Edna purchased a farm 7 miles south of Hudson Bay, SK. In the spring of 1973, they were blessed with their second child Trevor. Then in the winter of November 1974 they were blessed with a daughter Coralee. In November 4, 1976 they purchased a brand-new house.
Morley specialized in rock blasting and heavy equipment operator/mechanic. Morley and Seg also did a bit on the development on Donald Street and Hudson Bay, SK., which they completed in the early 70's. After completing Donald Street he then took a career at Simpson Timber Mill in Hudson Bay, SK. where he completed his millwright and welding certifications. Morley's career was approximately 20 years of service with Simpson Timber Mill. In 1991, Morley and Edna moved to The Pas, MB, where he obtained a job at Repap Pulp and Paper Mill, which later was purchased by company Tolko. He worked as a millwright for 5 years for Repap/Tolko, he finished his career at Tolko as a maintenance supervising manager. Morley worked a total of 10 years in The Pas, MB. Then into 2001 Morley retired from Tolko, and he and Edna moved back to Hudson Bay, SK, where they enjoy their retirement along with family and friends.
Morley enjoyed outdoor life, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of things like cutting wood for relaxation for his woodstove, which he spent many hours comforted by the heat with his family around him.
Morley and Edna were married 48 years and 8 months and Edna said if she was to do it all over again she would marry Morley 50 times over again and again.
Morley obtained a pilot’s license on November 25, 1967. He also enjoyed sports such as: football, hockey, curling, snowmobiling, quadding, fishing and camping, golfing, gardening, burning his fire pit outside in the backyard, and like he said all he was missing at their house was a lake. We also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Morley was also a hobby farmer for a while he even had a few head of cattle.
Morley was predeceased by his Father Willard Corbett; Mother Myrtle Corbett; Grandmother Emily Rice; Grandfather William Rice; Step-mother Florence Corbett; Father-in-law William Guderyan; Mother-in-law Christina Guderyan; Sisters-in-law: Faye Corbett, Laura Corbett, Gladys Leason, Janet Pukas, Kay Guderyan, Sheila Guderyan, and Gladys Guderyan; Brothers-in-law: Clarence Guderyan, Gordon Guderyan, Clifford Guderyan, and Harry Pukas; along with numerous Aunts and Uncles.
