Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ernest Umpherville can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Ernest Thomas Umpherville

Ernest Thomas Umpherville was born January 15th, 1932. Ernest was the third child of ten children born to parents Horace and Miriam Umpherville. Ernest was born and raised in Glen Mary, Saskatchewan. He attended the Pahonan School. At the age of nineteen, Ernest started working in the Canadian Air Force.
Ernest married Marie Claire (Rejeanne) on July 28th, 1956. Shortly after their wedding the couple packed up and moved over seas to Germany, where Ernest was stationed. It was in Germany that the couple started their family with the birth of their first child Tom (1957) and a few years later John (1959). After three years in Germany the young family flew back to Canada and settled in Trenton, Ontario. It was there the final addition was added to the family, with the birth of daughter Linda (1962). The family then flew back over seas, and spent the next three years in Germany. On their arrival back to Canada the family stayed in Thompson, Manitoba, where Ernest began Mining for INCO (International Nickel Company of Canada/Manitoba). Ernest started working at Simpson Timber while making their home in Hudson Bay, SK in 1976.
Ernest enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, shovel board and pool. He also enjoyed baseball, traveling, attending plane show. Ernest was a member of the Hudson Bay Legion, the Hudson Bay Bowling Club, as well as a faithful Anglican Church Lay Reader.
Ernest was predeceased by his Parents Miriam and Horace Umpherville; Bothers Charlie and Walter; Sister Jean Whittleton and Sister-in-law Fredia Preason.
Left to cherish Ernest’s memories are his Wife Rejeanne; Children: Tom, John and Linda; Grandchildren Jerek Blak and Tina Umpherville; Great-Grandchild Cayla Umpherville; Brothers: Elmer (Joan), John (Dorothy), Floyd (Nancy), and Donald; Sisters Thelma Osczenski and Lorna (Bill) Kerect; Sister-in-law Emily Umpherville, along with numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
