Obituary for Alton Fredsberg

Alton Andrew Fredsberg was born on March 27, 1924 to Carl and Anna Fredsberg at Last Mountain, SK. Alton grew up in Barrier Ford, SK with his 9 siblings where he also attended school.
In December of 1957 he met his future wife at his Brother Carl’s wedding, as they were both in the wedding party. They fell in love and on October 11th, 1958 he married Doris Julia Ingram, of Chelan, SK. After getting married they built a home in Barrier where they lived and had two children, Kevin Andrew (1960), and Beverly Marie (1962). They then moved to Porcupine Plain, where Alton continued as a Carpenter and Building homes in the area. Along with his role as a father and carpenter he also was a member of the Chelan School Board, Bjorkdale Wildlife Club, Porcupine Credit Union Board, Chelan School Board, and had a Part time Hobby farm.
Throughout his life he had many hobbies some of which included Buggy building and refurbishing, building Hope chests for family and friends, latch hook. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren doing things like snowmobiling, taking them down to the river, and watching their sports and plays. He also liked puttering in the shop and yard with them and his favorite dog. His grandkids will remember him for his love of whisker-rubs, quick wit, tickles, arm wrestling and his two finger grip.
Through the years he enjoyed playing his accordion with his brothers, sisters, nephews and son and grandchildren. His love of music inspired his children and grandchildren to keep music alive in their lives as well. Many people will hold memories of him playing and enjoying music, at homes, dances and weddings over the years.
As many people know, he and Doris enjoyed entertaining and feeding all who came to visit. Friends and family meant the world to him. He enjoyed all of the company and memories that were made with so many people in the area over the years, through good times and bad times.
Alton is predeceased by his parents, his nine siblings: Alf, Ellen, Hilda, Carl, Sonja, Elmer, Hazel, Ruth, and Lois. Alton was the last of his brothers and sisters to pass on.
