Obituary for
Mary Nosyk (Timofi)
Mary Nosyk was born in Kulno, Poland on July 10, 1924 to Michael and Pearl Timofi. Her family moved to Canada and the Weekes area in 1929 where she attended Dunwell School. Later she met and married her husband Sam Nosyk. They farmed in Weekes, then moved to Carragana where they purchased a restaurant and later a grocery store which they operated until retirement. She was very active in the community especially as secretary of the School Board and in the Carragana Homemaker’s club and Ladies Hosptial Auxiliary. There was always an angel food cake or nanaimo bars going out the door to some event. Both Mary and Sam enjoyed their garden which was large and exceptional. They moved to Porcupine Plain in 1972, and as usual everyone was welcome in their home and the coffee pot was always on.
After Sam passed away Mary moved to Saskatoon in 2003. She enjoyed living at Luther Special Care Home where she passed away peacefully on March 13, 2013.
Mary is survived by her children Loreen (David) O’Blenis, Carol (Wayne) Smandych and Dennis (Susan) Nosyk; her grandchildren Peter (Susan) O’Blenis and Daniel (Cindy) O’Blenis, Stephanie (Curtis) Kucey, Lara (Dana) Pearson, Erik (Jaclyn) Nosyk and Daniel (Caroline) Nosyk; Great grandchildren; David, Sean, Nicholas, Jillian, Ellie, Sam, Parker and Alexandra; her brother William Timothy and her sister Eva Campbell and several nieces and nephews.
The Voice of the Wind
When the warm breeze of April caresses you
part of it will be me.
When you look into the eyes of my children
part of them will be me.
When a snowflake of winter plants a kiss on your cheek,
that kiss might well have been me.
And the dust which appears out of nowhere
may be part of the dust that was me.
Through the promise of morning
and the voice of the wind
I will always have something to say.
To reflect on those wonderful moments
and warm you as you make your way.
All things that we both were part of
will continue to brighten each day.
Making room for the sound of your laughter
by remembering I’m not far away.
